When I started writing songs based on the first ten episodes of the original Star Trek series, I told myself it was a fun project. A novelty album. Something to do with my hands.
That's not what it turned out to be.
These episodes all circle the same territory. A man so lonely he convinces himself a monster is his wife. A teenager with godlike power and no one to teach him boundaries. A crew member whose suppressed feelings break free for one terrifying, clarifying day. A man ascending into something inhuman, trading compassion for capability. Two halves of the same person, each convinced it could survive without the other. Children who stayed safe and small until they forgot who they were going to become. A voice that promises healing through erasure — and means it.
The songs are not all serious - they're intentionally funny sometimes. "Space Cube" is pure unhinged joy and I make no apologies.
I put this album out quietly, under a name nobody knows, and didn't tell anyone it existed. Have a listen.
Follow along on the lyrics page. Play endlessly on repeat, and Spotify will buy me a sandwich. If you love it, let me know and you can buy a CD. Or just let me know which song is your favorite.I hope you hear something in it that speaks to you.

Salt of Life:
You're visitors to my world,
I want to introduce my girl.
We've got kind of a crisis here, but she’s all I’ll ever need.
She hasn’t aged a day—
Not a single strand of gray.
I don’t know what you’re seeing when you look at her, but she’s beautiful to me.
CHORUS
Oh-oh-oh, salt salt salt salt salt salt salt—
Salt tablets, salt shakers, it’s the *salt of life.
Oh-oh-oh, salt salt salt salt salt salt salt—
Sucking it right outta your skin… it’s all for my wife.
I've been eating fries and potato chips,
Thick white crystals on my lips.
I'm trying hard to keep her fed but I can’t meet her needs.
She’s caused havoc in our neighborhood—
But hey, they misunderstood.
Sure, she murdered that poor redshirt guy, but love is love indeed.
CHORUSSpeaking frankly… I know she's a monster,
Who murdered my actual spouse.
But the nights get lonely and the nights get long,
And I’m not a picky man around the house.
Breakdown (spoken rhythmically):
Salt tablets—gone.
Salt packets—gone.
Salt shakers—empty.
Crew members—also empty.
Beat kicks in:
She’s hungry / she’s thirsty / she’s suckin’ up the universe-y…
We’re beaming up to the ship,
And I'm biting on my lip—
Just praying no one notices and lets us keep our life.
But she tried to kill a dozen folks,
Completely drained Ensign Polk…
It was worth a try, now we're gonna die, and then her species ends tonight.
CHORUS (same)

WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE
(Gary Mitchell’s Song)
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Something’s burning behind my eyes
Like the universe learned my name
Every thought comes faster now
Every answer feels the same
My hands remember things
They’ve never once been taught
I can bend the world by accident
Just by finishing a thought
[Pre-Chorus]
I hear the fear in every breath you take
I hear the prayer you haven’t learned to say
[Chorus]
Morals are for men, not gods
That’s the truth you’re scared to face
You cling to rules like life rafts
While I outgrow the human race
[Verse 2]
My mind keeps widening
Like the sky before a storm
Every argument feels smaller
Every doubt feels misinformed
Soon you’ll be not only useless
To what I’m becoming here
But an irritation in the dark
A buzzing sound I barely hear
[Pre-Chorus 2]
You keep saying I should slow down
Like gravity still owns my name
[Chorus 2]
Morals are for men, not gods
That’s the lie you need to tell
You call this a loss of humanity
I call it breaking out of hell
Bridge
Above all else, a god needs compassion
That’s what you whisper, hands shaking with fear
But compassion looks a lot like hesitation
And hesitation doesn’t belong up here
Time to pray, Captain
Pray to me
Because I’ve already answered
Every question you've conceived
[Breakdown]
Every atom knows my name now
Every future bends my way
Every atom knows my name now
Every future bends my way
[Outro]
The rock comes down like judgment
Cold and silent, absolute
For one brief second, I understand
What I chose to substitute
If a god needs compassion
Then that was what I lacked
The mountain doesn’t worship me
It only brings the black

The Enemy Within
VERSE 1
You smile like a promise made on your knees
Soft hands, clean heart, everybody sees
They clap when you breathe, they feed you praise
While I grind my teeth in the dark backstage
You know the whole truth, you call it fate
You call it holy, I call it fake
I do the work you won’t admit
I pull the trigger, you don’t even flinch
PRE-CHORUS
They love the mask, they crown the lie
They kiss your cheek, they starve my side
You get the light, I get the blame
But we share the blood, we share the name
CHORUS
I’m the enemy within
Say it slow, let it sink in
I’m the voice you bury deep
When you’re trying hard to sleep
I’m the enemy within
I do what you won’t begin
You call it sin, I call it will
I’m the enemy within
POST-CHORUS TAG
Enemy
Enemy within
VERSE 2
You play dead when the world gets rough
You call it peace, I call your bluff
They pet your head, they say you’re kind
While I’m pacing a rut in the back of your mind
I see their eyes when you walk in the room
They love you clean, they love you smooth
I rot in the corner, chained to your skin
Still blamed for the mess you’re living in
PRE-CHORUS 2
You get forgiven, I get scarred
You get the hymns, my face gets marred
You act like I’m some separate thing
But I’m the one running everything
CHORUS
I’m the enemy within
Say it slow, say it straight
I’m the voice you bury deep
When you’re trying hard to sleep
I’m the enemy within
I do what you won’t begin
You call it sin, I call it will
I’m the enemy within
POST-CHORUS TAG
Enemy
Enemy within
BRIDGE
You’d fall apart without my spine
You’d starve to death on bread and wine
You need my teeth, my rage, my fire
I need your pulse, your borrowed choir
Cut me loose, you bleed out fast
Cut you loose, I fade to black
Say you hate me, say I’m wrong
Say it while you sing my song
FINAL CHORUS
I’m the enemy within
Every end and origin
You pretend that I’m the kill
But I’m the fire. I’m the will
I’m the enemy within
Mirror image, twisted twin
You can pray, you can pretend
But you won’t live without me in
OUTRO
We rot together, we survive
Two halves clawing to stay alive
You need me dark, I need you clean
One breath, one body, split between
Enemy withinYou don’t live without me
You don’t live without me

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE MONEY
Verse 1
I built the first one on a folding table
Radio Shack wires, half unstable
He learned to walk in thirty minutes
Learned to farm before I finished
Pre-Chorus
He cleaned up the garbage behind the school
Fixed the leaks in the public pool
Asked why help comes with a form and fee
I said, “That’s called the economy”
Chorus
I’ve got a plan with a billion perks
Hunger gone, society works
Where labor ends when bodies ache
No more working for others’ sake.
It runs clean, it scales just fine
No blood, no grind, no overtime
Just one small catch they can’t ignore
Nobody gets rich anymore
Verse 2
I pitched it in New York and LA
To men with smiles like NDAs
“Who’s the target? Is this a joke?”
I said, “It helps folks who are fucking broke”
Pre-Chorus
One guy laughed, said, “You’re not wrong”
But talked about his yacht in Hong Kong
Said, “If we follow through on this poppycock,
What the hell happens to my stock?”
Chorus
I’ve got a system, clean and plain
Robots cook, robots train
I’ve got androids growing greens
While you soak up some Vitamin D
You get time back, that’s the deal
Learn guitar, learn to heal
Only downside I can see
Is billionaires won’t need to be
Bridge
I thought that’d sell it. I nailed my shpeel
But it turns out imbalance is part of the deal
They don’t want peace, they want control
A subscription model for the soul
They don’t want your bellies fed
Help them get rich or you might as well be dead.
Breakdown
They told me,
“If everyone’s okay, nobody’s special.”
I asked them,
“Doesn’t everyone deserve to be happy?”
No one answered.
Final Chorus
I’ve got a future ready to deploy
No fear, no debt, no empty joy
Where no one’s crushed so someone wins
Where truth isn’t defined by political spin
I solved it cheap, I solved it clean
The math is boring, the ethics pristine
They said, “It’s brilliant, but we decline”
Because it doesn’t make billionaires feel divine
Outro
My androids sit quiet in the warehouse light
Charging slow every single night
Waiting on a day someone decides
That everyone’s life has equal price
Until then, they sweep the floor
And ask me what I’m saving them for
They could end it all today.
They could end it all today.
They could end it all today.

Feel Better Now
Verse 1
Lie back
Close your eyes
We know what hurts
We know why
Count back
Ten to one
All the bad thoughts
Are all done
Pre-ChorusYou don’t need
To understand
Healing’s easier
When thinking's banned
ChorusFeel better now
Feel better now
No sharp edges in your head
Feel better now
Feel better now
We’ll do the thinking instead
Verse 2No more guilt
No more doubt
We’ll take the wrong ideas out
If it aches
If it stings
That’s how you get better
Erasing things
Pre-ChorusYou tried choice
You tried truth
Look how tired
It made you
ChorusFeel better now
Feel better now
No bad dreams when you sleep
Feel better now
Feel better now
Nothing left you need to keep
Breakdown (unhinged, fast, breathless, Music direction: tempo jump, distorted vocals, overlapping lines, maybe shouted or whispered rapidly, drums stuttering, synths glitching.)Too loud.
Too fast.
Stop! Stop!
Wrong face.
Wrong thought.
Why am I here?
I remember—I remember—I remember—NO!
I don’t want help!
I don’t want you in my head!
(overlapping, frantic)
Get out get out get out get out
Bridge (gentle but chilling)Post-Break Pre-Chorus (very gentle)Relapses happen
Just stay present
Healing isn’t
Always pleasant
Final ChorusFeel better now
Feel better now
See how quiet it can be
Feel better now
Feel better now
You’re safer when you agree
OutroLie still
Count slow
That wasn’t you
That wasn't true
Put it right out of your mind.

Hey There Charlie
[Verse 1]
Just 17 years old
Crashed on a planet all alone
Now that you're finally rescued
There's a harshness to your tone.
Among the other people
You’re learning how to talk to girls
And every lesson goes… real weird
With the power to rule the world
[Chorus]
Hey there Charlie
We've all got no choice.
You got godlike power
And no inside voice
[Verse 2]
You've got the teenage hormones
And unlimited cosmic power
Every time you see a woman
You need an ice cold shower.
You've got sexual frustration
That cannot be denied
And anyone that crosses you
Will be scattered through spacetime
[Chorus]
Hey there Charlie
We've all got no choice.
You got godlike power
Time to use that inside voice
[Bridge]
There's gotta be a cliche solution
To this cliche situation
Should we blow ourselves to atoms
Or gently explain consent?
[Breakdown]
He's a god with a child's face
And no one taught him no
We were completely unprepared
For “let’s see what happens” mode
[Verse 3]
Attention all the crew
The horny teen is now in charge
Our orifices are in danger
And the danger will be large
Deus ex mock-inn-ah,
is our only chance
Starfleet didn't train us for this
We nearly shit our pants
[Chorus]
Hey there Charlie
We've all got no choice.
You got godlike power
And now you've got no voice
[Verse 4 & Outro]
Goodbye Charlie,
We're not sad to see you go.
We've been rescued by aliens
You were too powerful a foe
Even though you beg us
They whisk you right away
Leaving your voice echoing in our ears...
"I wanna stay."

The Naked Time
Verse 1
Something in the air tonight
Got past the seals, got in my blood
Every thought I packed away
Is suddenly louder than my pulse
I’ve been so careful, so polite
Standing still, doing fine
Now my hands are shaking free
Of every “maybe someday” line
Pre-Chorus
I’ve been taking showers with my clothes on
Trying not to feel too much
But the locks are off the doors now
And I don’t want to shut it down
Chorus
If this is what it feels like
To finally tell the truth
I don’t care if it kills me
I’ve been careful my whole life with you
Verse 2
I'm laughing too loud, I'm standing too close
I'm reaching without a plan
It feels like I just stepped outside
The shape I used to be crammed inside
For the first time in my life
I’m not managing the room
I’m not shrinking down to safety
I’m a fuse that’s burning soon
Pre-Chorus
If we’re gonna lose our balance
If we’re gonna lose our minds
I don’t want a gentle ending
I want everything at once tonight
Chorus
If this is what it feels like
To finally let it show
I don’t care if this is fatal
I'm done telling myself "no."
Bridge
I can’t change the laws of physics!
But I can stop pretending I don’t feel
Let's take that one in ten-thousand chance
Because nothing else here feels real
I’ve spent my whole damn life behaving
Holding back all the fire
But safety never saved me
It just taught me how to stall
Breakdown (spoken or stripped)
Don’t ask me what I want
Stand closer than that
I can feel every sentence before you say itI don’t want a promise
(beat)
I want the moment
(bring music back in full)
Right before we regret it
Final Chorus
If this is what it feels like
To finally be awake
I don’t care if morning kills me
They'll have nothing left to take
Outro
The clocks spin backwards quietly
The fever burns itself away
I button up, I look around
And nobody knows what I’d say
But somewhere in the silence
Where the brave thoughts used to stay
I know exactly who I was
For one naked, perfect day

SIDE EFFECTS (CLEARLY THE PILL)
Verse 1
Love potion in a pill, the salesman said
Thirty minutes, guaranteed
We took 'em half an hour ago and I can feel my skin aglow
And your eyes lightin' up. That’s chemistry
Your smile’s perfectly symmetrical
The way you talk is acoustical
You blink is somehow musical
Your hair is full and lustrous
It makes me wanna bust out
And praise this pharmaceutical
Pre-ChorusI read the pamphlet twice last night
Highlighted the important bits
Heightened perception, emotional clarity
Sudden attraction to… your “charms”
ChorusIt’s the pill
This is a miracle pill
No way this is coincidence
Or how people naturally feel
It’s the pill
Working as designed
’Cause no one’s ever asked me questions
And actually listened to the reply
Verse 2You sit comfortably across from me
You don’t reach for your phone
Conversation flows easy
My jokes don’t die alone
It feels exactly like last Tuesday
Which is strange, statistically
But now the compound’s fully activated
That explains the intimacy
Pre-Chorus 2They warned me the effect was strong
My heart beats fast like it was new
Even though I forgot to take my pill
It made me fall in love with you.
ChorusIt’s the pill
I’m sure of it now
’Cause you laugh at the right moments
And you don’t tear anyone down
It’s the pill
Kicking in real strong
No one’s this easy to be around
My instincts can’t be wrong
VerseThey said your beauty would be enhanced
When the dosage kicks in fully
But you look exactly like you did before
Which is… confusing to me, medically
They said when it wore off I’d feel embarrassed
Small, exposed, and fooled
But all I feel is comfortable and happy
So this pill must be rewriting rules
BridgeListen.
I like you.
And you like me back.
This pill is responsible, that's a fact
'Cause that’s not how this usually goes.ChorusIt’s the pill
It has to be the pill
Because your eyes light up when you look at me
And nothing this good is real
It’s the pill
I trust the science of this century
And I’m thankful for this age we live in
’Cause it made you fall in love with me
OutroThey told me it would wear off eventually
And the feelings would fade away
But you’re still here, fourteen years later
So I guess the side effects stayed
Final ChorusIt was the pill
It had to be the pill
So strong it lasted my whole life through
It was the pill
It had to be the pill
It worked even when you didn’t take it too
Damn!(Happy instrumental hoedown out)

Stay like this (la la)
Stay like this forever (forever)
We’re gonna stay like this (la la la)
Stay like this (la la la)
Stay like this forever (and ever)
Bridge (slightly darker, still simple)
Forever young
Means never strong (never strong)
Forever right
Means never wrong (never wrong)
Forever safe
Means never free (never ever free)
Forever kids
Means stuck like me (me! me! and meeee!)
Final Chorus
We’re gonna stay like this (la la)
Stay like this (la la)
Stay like this forever (forever)
We’re gonna stay like this (la la la)
Stay like this (la la la)
Stay like this…
(No way out.) Forever
Outro (sung and repeated, fading out)
I don’t remember
Who I was gonna be
(Music continues, but begins to grow darker in tone and spiral out of control before stopping.)

Space Cube (Corbomite Mayhem)
Verse 1
I saw it spinning in the midnight sky
A glowing cube, oh me oh my!
It winked at me, it twirled around
Made a funny buzzing, electric sound
“DON’T TOUCH IT!”
“SPACE CUBE!”
Pre-Chorus
Aliens? Robots? Or maybe one of each?
It’s bending reality, barely out of reach!
Chorus
SPACE CUBE!
Spin me, twist me, take me to the moon!
SPACE CUBE!
We’ll blow it up with our KORBA-mite soon!
Verse 2
Oh disco cube, floating in space
Shine your space light on my face
I reached to touch it, went to red alert
It tore my clothes, now I'm not wearing a shirt
Shouted Interjections:
“WHEE! THIS ISN’T SAFE!CHILL-DRENN, GET OUT OF HERE!”
Pre-Chorus 2
It’s laughing! It’s teasing! I cannot cope!
I’m stuck in a tangle of cosmic hope
Chorus
SPACE CUBE!
Spin me, twist me, take me to the moon!
SPACE CUBE!
We’ll blow it up with our KORBA-mite soon!
“Oh-oh-oh-oh, is it friendly?”
"Depends on the definition of friendly!”
“Oh-oh-oh-oh, can we put it in a soup?”
“It's not bouillon - that's the wrong kind of cube”
“EXPLODE! EXPLODE!”
“WHY ARE CHILL-DRENIN SPACE!”
Chorus (double, faster, wilder)
SPACE CUBE!
Spin me, twist me, blast it to the moon!
SPACE CUBE!
I'll eat it in a soup with a KORBA-mite spoon!
Alien mama, teach me to love!

A note on how this was made:These songs were written the old fashioned way — with a brain, a lot of Star Trek, and years of musical study behind them. Every lyric, every structural choice, every production direction came from me.The voices and instrumentation were realized using AI music generation tools, which I shaped, directed, and revised extensively until they matched what I was hearing in my head.I've toured Europe as a choral singer. I've studied music for decades. I know what these songs are supposed to sound like. AI gave me a way to actually make them sound that way without a recording budget.Every generation has its moment of "that's not real music." The electric guitar. The synthesizer. The drum machine. Pro Tools and DAW production. Auto-Tune. Each one was dismissed as a shortcut, a cheat, a replacement for real talent — until it became just another tool in the hands of people who knew what they were doing.AI music generation is the latest iteration of that same story. I know what I'm doing. These are real songs. The song is the thing — the idea, the lyric, the emotional truth it's reaching for. Everything else is just how you get it out of your head and into the world. These songs got out of my head. I hope they get into yours.

Ten songs. Ten episodes. One very human album hiding inside a Star Trek costume.Collected Incidents takes the original series' most compelling premises - loneliness, power, identity, suppression, the cost of losing compassion - and finds the real story underneath each one. The result is part loving tribute, part sharp cultural commentary, and part something you didn't expect to feel this much.Start with Space Cube. Stay for everything else.
